HOME OF THE WORLD REKNOWN
OMAK STAMPEDE




The Downhill race we hold here in Omak, Washington is famous
World wide and is held every year on the second  weekend of Aug.
It is the last event of the Rodeo each day and most of the perticipants
are Indian. The race starts at the top of the Okanogan River imbankment
and  ends in the rodeo arena. They start at the top of the imbankment
and go down a steep incline for 300 feet where they enter the river and
swim  across  climb another bank of 100 ft. then race to the finish in the
Rodeo arena.
